Positive Movement Classes for Older People

Positive Movement, a programme designed for older people, is for anyone who is frail and/or at risk of falls, for those who experience mobility issues or a physical disability and for people living with a limiting long-term illness. Participants, in small groups, learn techniques for improving and maintaining strength, flexibility, balance and co-ordination (thus helping to prevent falls) and have an opportunity, immediately following the structured class session, to meet new people and socialise over a cup of tea with their peers.

Classes run every Tuesday 1.15pm to 2.45pm. £4 per class (the £4 includes the 30 minute tea and coffee break at the end of the 1 hour exercise class)

Transition Town Letchworth
Delivering community projects to support more sustainable lives

We are a local group of volunteers who are working to build a more sustainable Letchworth. We want today’s Letchworth to be a pioneer in tackling the biggest challenges that are facing us: climate change, economic resilience and future energy supply. If we want the quality of life we enjoy to be maintained for future generations, we have to develop better ways to live. By changing some of our habits and working together on community initiatives we believe we can transition to a more sustainable, satisfying and happier way of life.  We hold themed talks and discussions evenings on the 2nd Tuesday of each month (except August) in the Upper Hall, 7:30 to 9:30pm. All are welcome, we have a suggested donation of £2 which helps us cover hall hire and refreshment costs.

Best Before Cafe
A Cafe with a difference

We are a not-for-profit environmental project run by local volunteers every Wednesday morning. We rescue unsold or surplus supermarket food and offer this back to our community. Our ethos is that food should feed people not landfill. A successful cafe session is when all the food is gone!  There are no prices at the cafe as it is a Pay As You Feel Cafe. This means you can pick up a bag of groceries, have a hot meal and help yourself to various snacks and refreshments in return for a donation of time, energy, skills or money. Best Before Cafe customers are always encouraged to bring a bag, have a cuppa and stay awhile. Everyone is welcomed!
